At Cambition, we have developed our very own cloud-based file server, CamCloud – it allows users access to a centralised company file storage from multiple locations. Anywhere with an Internet connection will work. The SaaS product acts as an internal Server with a mapped drive on each client computer, this allows the user to work from home or customer site while still having access to their company data.
Permissions: CamCloud has the ability to manage granular folder permissions. Company data is securely protected to your specified permissions to give you peace of mind that the data is protected or shared correctly. The management portal also allows users to edit permissions internally and set up dedicated folder shares for external users. This is great when working with an external business and wanting to share large folders of data.
CamCloud has two main uses:
Hybrid File Server: Can be set to sync data to and from an existing local company file server to the cloud, which can then be accessed by employees remotely. Any data they open, edit and save is immediately copied from the cloud location back down to the local server. This can also be a great disaster recovery solution as well as an efficient function for business if you have a lot of teleworkers or onsite workers.
Cloud File Server: It can act as a sole File Server in the cloud without the need for an existing server. Still enabling users to open, edit and save directly to the cloud.
The best feature of CamCloud is that it allows you to make use of a mapped drive. Using a software, each terminal (PC, Mac, laptop) can gain access to a mapped drive on their computer which is linked to their company data on the cloud. This allows you to access the shared files without having to browse the network – it is identical in practice to using an on-site network drive. This is a unique feature which CamCloud offers and eliminates the need to save on your computer storage as well as on the network. Everything is in sync.
